Anna Pavel, born in 1997 in Zlín, Czech Republic, grew up in Basel, Switzerland. In 2022, she received her Master‘s degree in the postgraduate program in documentary photography at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU).
Her work varies from diaristic photography of everyday life situations over event, portrait and travel photography, working mainly with analogue cameras.
More recently, her interest in ancient crafts has started to mirror itself in her work, leaning on old practices rooted in subjects like herbalism, pigment-extraction, screen-printing, leatherwork and silversmithing.
As a self-taught silversmith, Anna sells her unique handmade jewellery, working with foraged sea glass as well as found rocks and stones. Her crafts are available under Studio Yarilo; named after the Slavic pagan god of spring and fertility, the studio name embodies the essence of Anna‘s crations.
